Mulled Cranberry Mead

ingredients
- 3 lb honey
- 1 lb cranberries (fresh or frozen)
- 1 gal water
- 1 cup orange juice
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 4 whole cloves
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- 1 packet Lalvin EC-1118 yeast

In a large pot, combine honey, cranberries, and water. Heat until simmering, stirring to dissolve honey.

Add orange juice, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and nutmeg. Simmer for 10 minutes.

Remove from heat and cool to room temperature (about 70°F).

Strain the mixture into a sanitized fermentation vessel, discarding solids.

Stir in yeast. Cover with an airlock or clean cloth.

Store in a dark, cool place (60-70°F) for 4-6 weeks until fermentation slows and it clears.

Transfer to clean bottles using a sanitized siphon, leaving sediment behind.

Age for at least one month before enjoying, as flavors improve over time.
