Cinnamon Apple Crisp

Cinnamon Apple Crisp
ingredients
- 4 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, diced into small cubes
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream (optional)
steps
- 1.
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x9-inch baking dish.
- 2.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Mix until the apples are evenly coated.
- 3.
Transfer the apple mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
- 4.
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, oats, brown sugar, and salt. Add the diced cold butter and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to incorporate the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 5.
Sprinkle the oat crumble mixture over the apples, covering them entirely.
- 6.
Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until the topping turns golden brown and the apples are tender.
- 7.
Remove the crisp from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
- 8.
Drizzle the caramel sauce over the top.
- 9.
Serve the Cinnamon Apple Crisp warm and, if desired, top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
