A warm and comforting treat filled with aromatic spiced fruits and encased in a buttery, flaky pastry crust. Perfect for a cozy afternoon tea!
ingredients
- 2 cups mixed dried fruit
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- Zest of 1 lemon
- 1 lb ready-made puff pastry
- 1 egg, beaten

In a saucepan, combine dried fruit, sugar, water, spices, and lemon zest. Cook over low heat until fruit is plump and mixture is thickened.

Preheat oven to 375°F. Roll out puff pastry and cut into 2 equal rectangles.
- 3.
Spoon fruit filling onto one pastry rectangle. Brush edges with egg wash and place the other rectangle on top. Seal edges with a fork.

Brush the top with egg wash and make slits for steam to escape. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
- 5.
Serve warm or at room temperature and enjoy!
