A traditional lamb stew with a spicy kick, infused with cardamom and cinnamon, and finished off with diced sweet potatoes. The perfect comfort food for a chilly day or a weeknight dinner.
ingredients
- 2 lbs. boneless lamb shoulder, cubed
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp. ground coriander
- 1 tsp. ground cumin
- 1 tsp. cinnamon powder
- 1 tsp. cardamom powder
- ½ tsp. ground cloves
- 2 tbsp. olive oil
- 3 cups of beef broth
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 1 tbsp. tomato paste
- 2 cups sweet potatoes, diced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh cilantro, chopped

In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the onion and cook until soft.

Add the lamb cubes and brown on all sides.

Add the garlic, coriander, cumin, cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves. Stir well and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Add the beef broth, diced tomatoes, and tomato paste. Stir well and bring to a simmer.
- 5.
Add the sweet potatoes and cook for 25-30 minutes on low heat or until the lamb is tender.
- 6.
Adjust the seasoning to taste and stir in chopped cilantro before serving.
