Bearded Tree Vienna Lager

- 8 lbs Vienna malt
- 1 lb Munich malt
- 0.5 lb Crystal malt (40L)
- 0.25 lb Caramunich malt
- 1 oz Saaz hops (bittering, 60 min)
- 0.5 oz Styrian Golding hops (flavor, 15 min)
- 0.5 oz Saaz hops (aroma, 5 min)
- 1 packet German Lager yeast
- 5 oz priming sugar (for bottling)
- 5 gallons filtered water

In a large brew kettle, heat 3 gallons of water to 162°F (72°C).

Add the crushed grains into a grain bag and steep for 30 minutes at 150°F (65°C).

Remove the grain bag and allow it to drain back into the kettle.

Bring the wort to a boil, adding the Saaz hops for bittering.
- 5.
After 45 minutes, add the Styrian Golding hops for flavor.
- 6.
With 5 minutes left in the boil, add the remaining Saaz hops for aroma.

Cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller or ice bath to around 65°F (18°C).

Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermenter, adding enough water to make 5 gallons.
- 9.
Pitch the German Lager yeast, seal the fermenter, and allow it to ferment for 2 weeks at 50°F (10°C).
- 10.
After fermentation, bottle with priming sugar, and condition for 3 weeks at room temperature.
