Classic Green Bean Comfort Bake

- 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
- 2 cups sliced mushrooms
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 cup French fried onions
- Salt and pepper to taste

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and blanch the green beans for about 5 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Drain and set aside.
