Traditional pickled onion recipe with a sweet and tangy flavor perfect for snacking or topping sandwiches.
ingredients
- 1 lb small pearl onions
- 1 1/2 cups white vinegar
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp whole black peppercorns
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
steps

Peel the onions and place in a sterilized jar.

In a saucepan, combine vinegar, sugar, salt, and spices. Bring to a boil.

Simmer for 5 minutes and then pour over the onions in the jar.

Seal the jar and allow to cool to room temperature before refrigerating.

Let the onions pickle for at least 24 hours before serving.
