ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 carrot, grated
- 1 celery stalk, chopped
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/2 cup red wine
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil
steps
- 1.
Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add onions, garlic, carrot, and celery. Sauté until vegetables are tender.
- 2.
Increase heat to medium-high and add ground beef. Cook until browned and no longer pink, breaking it up with a spoon.
- 3.
Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, beef broth, red wine, parsley, basil, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer.
- 4.
Reduce heat to low, cover, and let the sauce simmer for at least 45 minutes, stirring occasionally. The longer it simmers, the more flavorful it becomes.
- 5.
Serve the cozy comfort pasta sauce over your favorite cooked pasta and garnish with grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
