ingredients
- 1 gallon apple cider
- 2 cups watermelon juice (freshly pressed)
- 2 cups honey
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ tsp ground nutmeg
- ½ tsp ground ginger
- 1 cup apple brandy (optional for extra warmth)
- 1 lemon, juiced
- 4-5 whole cloves
- 1 gallon clean, sanitized fermentation jug
- 1 airlock
- Optional: fresh watermelon chunks for garnish
steps
- 1.
Begin by warming the apple cider gently in a large pot over low heat; do not bring to a boil.
- 2.
In a separate bowl, mix the watermelon juice and honey until well combined.
- 3.
Add the watermelon and honey mixture to the warm apple cider.
- 4.
Stir in the ground cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and lemon juice, mixing well.
- 5.
If using, add the apple brandy for added warmth and flavor.
- 6.
Store the whole cloves in a clean muslin bag or cheesecloth, and add it to the mixture.
- 7.
Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature before transferring it to a sanitized fermentation jug.
- 8.
Seal the jug with an airlock and let it ferment in a cool, dark place for 1-2 weeks, depending on your taste preference.
- 9.
Once fermentation is complete, siphon the cyser into clean bottles, eliminating sediment.
- 10.
Chill or warm gently before serving, and garnish with fresh watermelon chunks if desired. Enjoy with friends!
