Creamy Mac 'n' Cheese

A rich and indulgent twist on the classic mac 'n' cheese, made with creamy cheese sauce and served with crispy bacon and breadcrumbs.

- 1 lb elbow macaroni pasta
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups whole milk
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 6 strips of bacon, cooked and chopped
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

Preheat the oven to 375°F.

Cook the macaroni according to the package directions, until al dente. Drain and set aside.

In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Gradually whisk in the flour until smooth, stirring constantly for 2-3 minutes.

Slowly whisk in the milk and cream, stirring constantly. Cook until the mixture begins to thicken, about 5-7 minutes.

Add the shredded cheeses, garlic powder, salt, and pepper, and stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.

Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir until evenly coated.

Pour the mac and cheese into a 9x13 inch baking dish. Top with the chopped bacon and breadcrumbs.
