ingredients
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- Vegetable oil, for frying
steps
- 1.
Cut the chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces.
- 2.
In a bowl, combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
- 3.
Dip each chicken piece into the buttermilk, allowing the excess to drip off, then coat it in the flour mixture.
- 4.
Place the coated chicken pieces on a baking sheet and let them rest for 10 minutes to set the coating.
- 5.
Meanwhile, heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot, enough to completely submerge the chicken pieces. Heat the oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 6.
Fry the chicken pieces in small batches for about 5-6 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and cooked through. Make sure not to overcrowd the pan.
- 7.
Using a slotted spoon, transfer the fried chicken to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- 8.
Repeat the frying process with the remaining chicken pieces.
- 9.
Serve the crispy poppin' chicken bites warm, with your favorite dipping sauce, and enjoy!
