ingredients
- 3 lbs. Honey
- 1 gal of Filtered or non chlorinated water
- A handful of dried elderberries
- Fresh ginger, diced (thumb-sized)
- ½ cup Organic raisins or any other dried fruits
- 1 slice Dried and fresh lime
- 2 packets Yeast (use champagne yeast for dry mead, wine yeast for sweeter mead, or mead yeast for a balanced sweetness)
steps
- 1.
In a clean fermentation vessel, dissolve honey in warm filtered water, stirring until fully combined.
- 2.
Add the dried elderberries, diced ginger, raisins, and lime slices to the honey-water mixture, mixing gently.
- 3.
Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature, then sprinkle the yeast on top without stirring.
- 4.
Cover the vessel with a clean cloth or airlock, ensuring it is secured against contaminants.
- 5.
Place the vessel in a dark, warm area (around 70-75°F) and let it ferment for approximately 2-4 weeks, or until bubbling slows down.
- 6.
Once fermentation is complete, siphon the mead into clean bottles, leaving sediment behind.
- 7.
Seal the bottles and let the mead age for at least another month for best flavor development.
- 8.
Chill and serve, garnished with a slice of fresh lime if desired. Enjoy responsibly!
