Yule Hearth Ale
"Yule Ale; Recipe: Norwegian Yule Ale, Ingredients: 1 gallon of water 8 cups of light brown sugar 1 cup of molasses 1/4 cup of ground ginger 1/4 cup of ground cloves 1/4 cup of ground allspice 1/4 cup of ground cinnamon 1/4 cup of ground cardamom 1/2 cup of chopped candied ginger 1/2 cup of chopped candied lemon peel 1/2 cup of chopped candied orange peel 1/2 cup of raisins 1/2 cup of chopped almonds 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts Yule Ale 1 cup of chopped pitted dates Directions: In a large pot, combine the water, brown sugar, molasses, and spices. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and stir in the candied ginger, lemon peel, orange peel, raisins, almonds, walnuts, dates, and Yule Ale. Cover and refrigerate for at least 24 hours before serving."
