Buttery No-Yeast Croissant Bliss

Buttery No-Yeast Croissant Bliss
ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
- ¾ cup cold milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- 1 egg, for egg wash
steps
- 1.
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 2.
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- 3.
Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to blend the butter until pea-sized pieces form.
- 4.
Pour in the cold milk and vanilla extract. Stir until the dough begins to come together, being careful not to overmix.
- 5.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it just until smooth.
- 6.
Roll the dough into a rectangle about ½ inch thick. Fold it into thirds like a letter and roll it out again into a rectangle.
- 7.
Repeat this process two more times for flaky layers.
- 8.
Cut the rectangle into triangles, about 4 inches wide at the base. Roll each triangle from the base to the tip, forming a croissant shape.
- 9.
Place the croissants on the prepared baking sheet. Beat the egg and brush it on top for a golden finish.
- 10.
Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and puffed. Allow them to cool slightly before serving.
