Hazelnut Chocolate Swirl Pastry

Decadent puff pastry filled with rich hazelnut chocolate custard, baked to perfection and sprinkled with powdered sugar for an irresistible treat.
ingredients
- 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
- 1 cup hazelnut chocolate spread
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
- Optional: chopped hazelnuts for garnish
steps
- 1.
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 2.
Roll out the puff pastry sheet into a rectangle and spread the hazelnut chocolate spread evenly over the surface, leaving a small border.
- 3.
Starting from one short end, tightly roll the pastry into a log. Slice the log into 6 equal pieces and place them cut-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- 4.
In a saucepan, whisk together the milk, granulated sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks over medium heat. Cook until the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- 5.
Carefully press the center of each pastry piece with a spoon to create a small well. Spoon the hazelnut custard into the well.
- 6.
Bake for about 15-20 minutes, until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
- 7.
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar. Optionally, garnish with chopped hazelnuts.
