ingredients
- 1 lb minced beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp dried rosemary
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 sheets ready-to-roll puff pastry
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
steps
- 1.
Preheat the oven to 375°F and grease a pie dish.
- 2.
In a large skillet, brown the minced beef over medium-high heat. Remove and set aside.
- 3.
In the same skillet, sauté the onion and garlic until softened. Add mushrooms and cook until golden.
- 4.
Return the beef to the skillet, then add beef broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper. Stir well and simmer for 5-8 minutes.
- 5.
Roll out one sheet of puff pastry and line the bottom of the greased pie dish. Trim the excess.
- 6.
Pour the beef mixture into the pie dish, spreading it evenly.
- 7.
Roll out the second sheet of puff pastry and place it over the filling. Seal the edges and cut a few slits on top to allow steam to escape.
- 8.
Brush the pastry with beaten egg for a golden finish.
- 9.
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and cooked through.
