- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Olive oil for cooking
- 1 lb pasta (spaghetti or your choice)
steps

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onions, carrots, and celery, sautéing until softened.
- 2.
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- 3.
Add the ground beef and pork to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- 4.
Incorporate the crushed tomatoes, beef broth, red wine, and tomato paste. Stir well to combine.
- 5.
Season with oregano, basil, bay leaf, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and let cook for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Meanwhile, cook the pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- 7.
Remove the bay leaf from the sauce and adjust seasoning if needed.
- 8.
In a large baking dish, layer half of the cooked pasta, followed by half of the bolognese sauce. Top with ¾ cup mozzarella and half of the Parmesan cheese.
- 9.
Add the remaining pasta and sauce, then sprinkle with the rest of the mozzarella and Parmesan.
- 10.
Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F for about 20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- 11.
Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your cheesy bolognese!
