Decadent Chocolate Fudge Cake

- 2 cups cake flour
- 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sour cream
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup hot water
- 6 ounces bittersweet chocolate, melted and cooled
- Grease and flour for cake pans

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the cake flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Add the sour cream, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.

Gradually pour in the hot water and mix until the batter is smooth. Stir in the melted bittersweet chocolate.

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.For the Chocolate Buttercream Frosting:

In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.

Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing well after each addition.

Pour in the heavy cream and add the vanilla extract. Beat until smooth and fluffy.Assembly:

Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a generous amount of chocolate buttercream frosting over the top. Repeat with the remaining layers.

Use the remaining frosting to cover the sides and top of the cake.

Decorate with chocolate shavings or sprinkles, if desired.
