Perfect for a hot day or as a refreshing palate cleanser, this sorbet is both elegant and easy to make.
ingredients
- 2 cups hibiscus tea, brewed and cooled
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1 tablespoon lime zest
- 1/2 cup water
- Pinch of salt
steps
- 1.
In a saucepan, combine the water and sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely to create a simple syrup. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
- 2.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooled hibiscus tea, lime juice, lime zest, and a pinch of salt. Stir in the cooled simple syrup until well mixed.
- 3.
Transfer the mixture to an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a sorbet consistency.
- 4.
If you don’t have an ice cream maker, pour the mixture into a shallow baking dish and freeze for about 30 minutes. Stir with a fork to break up any ice crystals, then continue to freeze, stirring every 20-30 minutes, until the sorbet is fully frozen and fluffy.
- 5.
Once ready, scoop the sorbet into serving bowls or cones and garnish with a slice of lime or a sprinkle of lime zest, if desired.
- 6.
Serve immediately for a soft texture or freeze for an additional hour for a firmer consistency.
