ingredients
- 1 lb Wagyu beef, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 cup soy sauce
- ½ cup mirin
- ¼ cup sake
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, freshly grated
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted
- 3 green onions, sliced, for garnish
steps
- 1.
In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, mirin, sake, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger. Bring mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Reduce heat and let it simmer for 10 minutes to thicken slightly.
- 2.
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over high heat. Add the wagyu beef cubes, searing them on all sides for about 5-7 minutes until browned and medium-rare.
- 3.
Pour the teriyaki sauce over the cooked wagyu cubes, tossing to coat evenly. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to glaze the beef.
- 4.
Remove from heat and let rest for a few minutes.
- 5.
Transfer the wagyu teriyaki to a serving dish, sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish. Serve with steamed rice and your choice of vegetables.
