Savory Shepherd's Pie with a Twist

- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/4 cup red wine
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup grated cheddar cheese

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced beef and cook until browned. Remove excess fat if necessary.
