- 1 lb lean ground turkey
- 1 large onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 can (15 oz) black-eyed peas, drained and rinsed
- 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

In a large pot, cook the ground turkey over medium heat until browned, breaking it up into crumbles. Drain any excess fat.
