ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup pecans, chopped
steps
- 1.
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9-inch square baking dish.
- 2.
In a large bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 3.
Gradually add milk and stir until a soft dough forms. Turn onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead a few times until smooth.
- 4.
Roll out the dough into a rectangle, approximately 12x10 inches.
- 5.
In a small bowl, mix together maple syrup, melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and chopped pecans.
- 6.
Spread the maple-pecan filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- 7.
Starting from the long side, tightly roll up the dough. Seal the edges by pinching them together.
- 8.
Cut the roll into 10 equal slices and place them in the prepared baking dish, cut side up.
- 9.
Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
- 10.
Allow the pecan swirls to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!
