ingredients
- 1 lb sirloin steak, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/3 cup provolone cheese, shredded
- 1 batch pizza dough
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup ranch dressing
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried dill
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)
steps
- 1.
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 2.
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced steak and cook until browned. Remove the steak from the skillet and set it aside.
- 3.
In the same skillet, add the sliced green peppers and onions. Sauté until they become tender and slightly caramelized. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and dried oregano.
- 4.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large circle or rectangle, about ¼ inch thick.
- 5.
Sprinkle half of the mozzarella and provolone cheese over one half of the dough, leaving a border around the edges. Layer the cooked steak, sautéed peppers, and onions over the cheese. Top with the remaining cheese.
- 6.
Fold the empty half of the dough over the ingredients and carefully seal the edges by pressing a fork around the sides.
- 7.
Transfer the calzone to the prepared baking sheet and brush the top with olive oil. Sprinkle with garlic powder and dried oregano.
- 8.
Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the calzone is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- 9.
While the calzone is baking, prepare the spicy ranch sauce by whisking together the ranch dressing, hot sauce, dried dill, paprika, and cayenne pepper.
- 10.
Allow the calzone to cool slightly before serving. Cut into slices and serve with the spicy ranch sauce on the side.
