Experience a refreshing summer brew with hints of fresh strawberries in every sip. This fruity hefeweizen is perfect for hot days and backyard barbecues.
ingredients
- 4 lbs Pilsen LME
- 2 lbs strawberry puree
- 1 oz Hallertau hops
- 0.5 oz Saaz hops
- 1 packet German Hefeweizen yeast
- 1 tsp Irish moss
- 1 oz strawberry extract
- 5 oz priming sugar
steps
- 1.
Heat 2 gallons of water in a brew kettle, steep the Pilsen LME for 30 minutes.
- 2.
Add 0.5 oz of Hallertau hops and 0.5 oz of Saaz hops, boil for 60 minutes.
- 3.
Add 1 oz of Hallertau hops, Irish moss, and strawberry puree, boil for 10 minutes.
- 4.
Cool wort, transfer to a fermentation vessel, add yeast.
- 5.
Ferment for 2 weeks, add strawberry extract, transfer to bottles with priming sugar.
- 6.
Age for 2 weeks, chill, and enjoy the fruity flavors of summer.
