ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sourdough starter
- 1 ripe avocado, mashed
- 1 ½ teaspoons salt
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 ¼ cups lukewarm water
- Extra flour for dusting
steps
- 1.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sourdough starter, mashed avocado, salt, honey, and water. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- 2.
Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
- 3.
Place the dough back into the mixing bowl and cover it with a clean kitchen towel. Allow it to rise until doubled in size, approximately 4-6 hours.
- 4.
Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). Place a Dutch oven or a heavy oven-safe pot with its lid in the oven while preheating.
- 5.
Once the dough has risen, carefully remove the hot pot from the oven and place the dough inside it. Score the top of the dough with a sharp knife.
- 6.
Cover the pot with the lid and bake for 30 minutes. Then, remove the lid and continue baking for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown.
- 7.
Once baked, remove the bread from the pot and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
