- 1/2 cup finely chopped cabbage
- 1/4 cup grated carrots
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying For the dipping sauce:
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon chili oil (optional)
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
steps
- 1.
In a mixing bowl, combine flour and warm water, knead until smooth, and let rest for 30 minutes.
- 2.
In a separate bowl, mix ground pork, cabbage, carrots, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- 3.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into 3-inch circles using a cookie cutter.
- 4.
Place a spoonful of the pork mixture in the center of each circle.
- 5.
Fold the dough over the filling to form a half-moon shape and pinch the edges to seal.
- 6.
Heat a tablespoon of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Arrange gyoza in the pan, frying until golden brown (about 3 minutes).
- 7.
Add a splash of water (about 1/4 cup) to the pan, cover immediately, and steam for another 6-8 minutes until cooked through.
- 8.
For the dipping sauce, mix soy sauce, rice vinegar, and chili oil in a small bowl, and garnish with sesame seeds.
- 9.
Serve the crispy gyoza hot with the soy-vinegar sauce on the side.
