ingredients
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 3 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
- Water, as needed
- 4 tablespoons ghee or oil for cooking
steps
- 1.
In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour and salt. Gradually add water, kneading to form a smooth dough, then cover and let it rest for 20 minutes.
- 2.
In another bowl, mix the mashed potatoes, cumin seeds, garam masala, red chili powder, and chopped cilantro until well combined.
- 3.
Divide the dough into equal portions and roll each into a ball. Do the same for the potato filling.
- 4.
Roll out a dough ball into a small disk, place a potato filling ball in the center, and fold the edges around the filling to seal it.
- 5.
Gently roll it out again into a flat circle, taking care not to let the filling spill out.
- 6.
Heat a skillet over medium heat, adding a tablespoon of ghee or oil.
- 7.
Cook the paratha for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy, adding more ghee as needed.
- 8.
Repeat with the remaining dough and filling, serving hot with yogurt or pickle.
