- Filtered Water (to top off to 5 gallons)
steps
- 1.
In a large sanitized fermentation vessel, combine 6 lb of honey and 6 lb of agave nectar.
- 2.
Add approximately 1 gallon of warm filtered water to dissolve the honey and agave, stirring thoroughly.
- 3.
Once dissolved, top off the mixture with additional filtered water until it reaches 5 gallons.
- 4.
Stir in 1 tsp of acid blend and 1 tsp of yeast nutrient, ensuring everything is well mixed.
- 5.
Prepare your yeast according to the package instructions and then add it to the mixture.
- 6.
Cover the fermentation vessel with an airlock and place it in a dark, temperature-controlled area (around 68-75°F).
- 7.
Allow fermentation to occur for 2-4 weeks, monitoring the specific gravity for desired sweetness levels.
- 8.
Once fermentation is complete, siphon the mead into sanitized bottles, leaving sediment behind.
- 9.
Seal the bottles and let them age for at least 3-6 months to enhance flavors before enjoying.
