Savory Ham and Cheese Breakfast Strata
"Ham and Cheese Strata 6 slices French bread, cubed 1 cup diced ham 1 cup grated cheddar cheese, divided 6 eggs 2 cups half-and-half 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard salt and pepper, to taste 1/2 cup sliced green onions Place half of the bread cubes in bottom of a 9 x13-inch glass baking dish that has been prepared with nonstick cooking spray. Evenly distribute the ham and 1/2 cup cheese over bread. Top with remaining bread. In a medium bowl, beat eggs, half-and-half, mustard, salt, and pepper. Pour over bread. Spread remaining cheese on top. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Remove strata from refrigerator; uncover and let stand while oven heats. Bake in center of oven until puffed, golden, and knife inserted near center comes out clean, 45 to 50 minutes. Let it set 5 to 10 minutes before serving. Makes 6 to 8 servings."
