Tender flat-iron steak topped with a rich mushroom red wine sauce. A delicious and elegant dish perfect for a special occasion or a cozy dinner at home.
ingredients
- 2 flat-iron steaks (8 oz each)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1/2 cup red wine
- 1/4 cup beef broth
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp thyme
- Chopped parsley for garnish
steps
- 1.
Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat and season steaks with salt and pepper. Cook steaks for 4-5 minutes on each side until desired doneness. Remove from heat and let rest.
- 2.
In the same skillet, add olive oil and mushrooms. Cook until mushrooms are golden brown, about 5 minutes.
- 3.
Add garlic and thyme, stir for 1 minute. Pour in red wine and beef broth, scraping up any browned bits.
- 4.
Let the sauce simmer and reduce by half, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in butter until melted.
- 5.
Slice the steak against the grain and top with the mushroom red wine sauce. Garnish with parsley and serve hot.
